The 2010 Australian Federal Election will take place on Saturday 21st August.

The Australian Greens look likely to increase their primary vote and the hold the balance of power in the Senate, though an alternative hypothesis suggests that if the three former National Party, now Independent candidates are elected they will have control of the senate.

While government will fall to either the major parties of the Australian Labor Party and the Liberal Party of Australia/National Party of Australia coalition, there are some prominent minor parties contending seats in the House of Representatives and the Senate such Family First, Australian Democrats, Socialist Equity, the Christian Democratic Party and the Australian Sex Party, as well as numerous independent candidates.
