BREAKING NEWS (4PM): The final report of the Senate committee inquiry into the funding and administration of mental health has been delayed for a third time. The report was to be released to day but is now scheduled to be released on Tuesday, November 1, the day the funding changes come into effect. The day is also Melbourne Cup day, and speculation is already circulating that given there will be an almost total focus on the Cup race by media outlets the story of cuts will be lost in the news cycle. A letter from the Committee Chair, Senator Rachel Siewert, standing as the second interim report was released today instead.
